Skyline Swim Meet competed in their first swim meet of the season on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Skyline hosted the meet at White Rock Pool against WT White. Skyline Girls had stand out performances in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay. Team Captain Dakota Duran dropped time in her 50 free and Junior Yesenia Vazquez swam the fastest Skyline Girls 100 Freestyle. Girls finished 46-58. The Raider Boys made a splash winning the first meet of the season 71-48. Freshman Branden Scott swam the fastest 50 free time and Team Captain Christian Martinez dropped time in the distance events, the 200 and 500 Freestyle.
Skyline Swimming competed on Thursday, October 20 against Spruce in a dual meet at Pleasant Grove Pool. Many of the new swimmers to the team dropped time from the first meet, beating their personal times by multiple seconds. Sophomores Sandra Joaquin and Paulina Najera dropped 17 and 11 seconds respectively in the 100 Freestyle. Girls won their meet 108-64. Boys also dominated with Senior Alejandro Sosa dropping 5 seconds in his 100 Freestyle. Junior Sebastian Vega demonstrated his mastery in the 100 Breaststroke. Boys won 101-53.
Tuesday night, October 25, was the first meet for the Skyline Swim Team at Loos Pool where the Dallas City Meet and District Meet will be located. It was a tri-meet against WT White and Hillcrest. It was an excellent experience for the Raider Swim Team and though not all times improved, everyone’s mastery over pace and technique of their races increased. Sophomore Diego Duran dropped 10 seconds in his 100 Freestyle and Senior Cittlaly Cipriano competed in a total of four events, contributing to 2 relays and in the individual 50 and 100 Freestyle. The finals scores for Girls were WT White 115, Skyline 95, and Hillcrest 18. Boys results were WT White 135, Skyline 75, Hillcrest 30. Girls record is 2-2 and the Boys are 3-1.
