The Junior Varsity Skyline Raider soccer team faced Richardson Pearce on the road tonight at J.J. Pearce High School tonight. Skyline began the game with precise combinations. Misael Arias set up Sergio Martinez for a shot, and Sergio placed it in the upper corner to put the Raiders up 1-0. However, the Pearce Mustangs bounced back and found a goal off a set piece to level the score 1-1. The game was intense, and neither team wavered. Skyline continued to move the ball and Juan Contreras found Misael Arias down the left flank, who then chipped the goalkeeper to make the score 2-1. A few moments later the Mustangs earned another set piece, this time a corner kick. After a few bounces in the box, Pearce headed another one into the net to again tie the game. The game became very physical in the second half and the boys continued to battle. The Raiders drew a foul just outside of the box with about 12 minutes to go in the second half. Misael Arias stepped up and bent a shot over the wall and into the net to put Skyline up 3-2. The Raider defense did a great job of closing the game and was led by Roberto Santoyo, Arath Moreno and Victor Suastegui. The final score was Skyline 3, Pearce 2.
